CSUSB women shut out Otters, 3-0

West Region No. 4 Coyotes now 7-3-2 (5-2-1 in the CCAA)

Lindsey Jordan scored match-winning goal against CSU Monterey Bay.
Cal State San Bernardino broke open a scoreless women's soccer match with three second half goals to defeat Cal State Monterey Bay, 3-0, Sunday in a CCAA conference encounter before 287 fans at Coyote Premier Field.
The victory improved the Coyotes – ranked No. 4 in the West Region of NCAA Division II – to 7-3-2, 5-2-1 in the CCAA South Division. The Otters are now 1-11-1 overall and 0-8 in the conference.
Senior Lindsey Jordan scored the match-deciding goal in the 53rd minute from outside the 18-yard line after collecting a pass from sophomore Katie Liby. It stayed 1-0 until the 74th minute when Liby found freshman Amanda Villarecencio unmarked near the 18-yard line and Villarecencio lofted the ball over the keeper's head into the net for a 2-0 advantage.
Redshirt freshman Katie Mount celebrated her 19th birthday by scoring her first goal of the season just 2:02 from the end of time, using her left foot to drive the ball inside the near post after receiving a cross from Villarecencio.
The Coyotes defense limited the Otters to just three shots, two of which were saved by CSUSB senior goalkeeper Leslie Rhodes. It was Rhodes second shutout of the season and the 13th of her four-year career at CSUSB. Rhodes is one shy of tying the program's all-time career mark of 14 set by Addie Jacobs in 1994-95.
CSUSB had 18 shots in the match. Megan Kwasnicki had three saves in 74 minutes in goal for the Otters, yielding the first two Coyote goals. Stephanie Husted closed out the match in the net and yielded Mount's goal.
The Coyotes go on the road next week, facing Sonoma State – ranked No. 2 in the West Region and No. 12 in the nation – on Friday and then Humboldt State on Sunday.
