Playing without the services of senior middle blocker
Sharea Drawn (mild injury), Cal State San Bernardino's women's volleyball team swept past visiting Cal State Monterey Bay, 3-0, in the California Collegiate Athletic Association opener for both teams.
The Otters made a match of it in game two, losing only 30-27, but were dominated in games one and three by the Coyotes -- 30-13 and 30-14.

Jane Chafeh had a match-high 14 kills on 26 attacks (.346 hitting) while junior
Jessica Granados had 12 kills and hit .269 from her right side position. Both players had three service aces. Junior middle blocker
Sara Rice was nearly perfect with nine kills in 10 attacks (.900 hitting).
The victory improved the Coyotes to 9-0 overall and 1-0 in the CCAA while the Otters slumped to 0-9, 0-1.
Sara Hoffman and
Alyssa Auck combined for 42 assists and
Meghan Haas had a match-high 14 digs. CSUSB hit .400 as a team in the match while holding the Otters to just .169 hitting. Drawn was expected to play on Saturday against Sonoma State.
