Coyotes cruise past No. 22 Cal State L.A.

Balanced attack improves CSUSB conference record to 13-0

Cal State San Bernardino's women's volleyball team increased their lead in the California Collegiate Athletic Association to four games with five matches remaining with a convincing 3-0 sweep of No. 22 Cal State L.A. to capture the season series between the two schools.
CSUSB is now 21-1 on the season and 13-0 in the CCAA while the Golden Eagles dropped to 9-5 in the conference.
The Coyotes, ranked No. 1 in the Pacific Region and No. 2 in the nation, dominated the first two games of the match with the Golden Eagles 30-16 and 30-17. CSULA fought back in the third game but succumbed 30-26.
Jessica Granados led a balanced CSUSB attack with nine kills on .318 hitting with two service aces and nine digs. Sara Rice, Ashtin Hall, Sharea Drawn and Lindsey Olhausen each contributed seven kills. Sara Hoffman, ranked No. 7 in the nation in assists, had 42 of them in the match.
Game three was tied eight times and there were two lead changes. Kha Tara Steen  gave CSULA an 8-8 tie early in the game and the Golden Eagles pulled in from 19-18 on a kill by Ursula Vieira. However, back to back aces by Hoffman put the Coyotes up 25-21 and they closed out the match on a Steen attack error and a kill by Olhausen. All seven of Olhausen's kills game in the final game.
CSUSB is now 64-7 in games played over 22 matches and are 11-0 at home this season. The team has won 11 straight since a 3-1 non-conference loss to Cal Baptist on Sept. 13. The Coyotes are now 95-6 at home since the start of the 1998 season.
