SAN BERNARDINO, Calif. - Six new members will join the CSUSB Athletics Hall of Fame as part of the Class of 2026. This year's class includes Alexis Cardoza (women's volleyball), Carlos Juarez (men's soccer), Chelsey Weis (women's soccer, née Jones), Don Parnell (baseball), Dwight Sweeney (faculty athletic representative) and Gene Webster (men's golf).

Representing six different areas of Coyote Athletics, the Class of 2026 reflects a legacy of excellence through athletic achievement, coaching success, and dedicated service to the university. Together, the six inductees have helped shape the history of CSUSB Athletics while leaving a lasting impact on their respective programs.

"We are extremely excited for and proud of our Cal State San Bernardino Athletics Hall of Fame Class of 2026," said CSUSB Director of Athletics Shareef Amer. "This group of student-athletes, coaches, and an administrator positively impacted the school and now join a distinguished group of Coyotes already enshrined in our Hall of Fame. This is the highest honor that can be bestowed upon a member of our CSUSB Athletics community, and every single one of them deserves it fully."
 

Alexis Cardoza (Women Volleyball, 2017-2021) 

Alexis Cardoza helped lead CSUSB to one of the most successful eras in program history, highlighted by the Coyotes' first NCAA Division II National Championship and an undefeated 33-0 season in 2019. A three-time AVCA All-American and two-time AVCA National Player of the Year, Cardoza also earned CCAA Player of the Year honors twice while leading CSUSB to back-to-back undefeated conference seasons in 2019 and 2021. She concluded her career ranked among the program's all-time leaders with 1,702 kills, 1,970 points, 153 service aces and 1,251 digs while becoming the first three-time CSC Academic All-American in CSUSB Athletics history.
 

Carlos Juarez (Men's Soccer Head Coach, 1986-96)

Carlos Juarez helped establish CSUSB men's soccer as a regional contender during his 11 seasons as head coach, compiling a 111-78-15 record and leading the Coyotes to three NCAA Tournament appearances. His 1987 squad advanced to the NCAA Division III Final Four, while the 2001 team captured the program's first CCAA championship behind CCAA MVP Rolando Uribe. Following his time at CSUSB, Juarez was named the NCAA Division II Women's Soccer National Coach of the Year at Cal Poly Pomona and later served with the U.S. Men's National Team staff, including the 2014 FIFA World Cup.
 

Don Parnell (Baseball Head Coach, 1992-2015)

Don Parnell spent 24 seasons leading the CSUSB baseball program, becoming one of the winningest coaches in school history with 559 career victories. He guided the Coyotes to the program's lone CCAA regular season championship in 2002, six additional CCAA Tournament appearances and 10 winning seasons while competing in one of NCAA Division II's toughest conferences. During his tenure, 103 players earned All-CCAA honors, six were named NCAA Division II All-Americans and 21 were selected in the MLB Draft.
 

Dwight Sweeney (Faculty Athletic Representative, 2000-18)

Dwight Sweeney served as CSUSB's Faculty Athletic Representative from 2000 to 2018, helping support one of the most successful eras in Coyote Athletics. During his tenure, Coyote teams captured conference and regional championships while student-athletes earned numerous athletic and academic honors, including seven CSC Academic All-America selections. A familiar presence around the department, Sweeney built lasting relationships with coaches, staff and student-athletes while supporting Coyote teams at conference and NCAA postseason events and serving as interim director of athletics in 2007.
 

Gene Webster (Men's Golf, 2006-10)

Gene Webster became the only three-time All-American in CSUSB men's golf history, establishing himself as one of the program's most accomplished golfers. As a freshman, he captured medalist honors at the NCAA West Regional, leading the Coyotes to the team title before earning All-America honors with a 12th-place finish at the NCAA Championship. Webster earned All-America recognition two more times, including a third-place finish at the 2009 NCAA Championship after leading the tournament through all four rounds. He capped his career by earning CCAA Player of the Year honors in 2010 while setting the Cal State Stanislaus Hanny Invitational tournament record at 18-under-par 198 and winning the 2010 Coyote Classic at 14-under par.
 

Chelsey Weis (Women's Soccer, 2010-13)

Weis (née Jones) became one of the most accomplished goalkeepers in program history, earning both NCAA Division II All-America and Academic All-America honors during her career. She finished as the Coyotes' all-time leader in wins (23) and shutouts (21), while her 13 shutouts in 2013 remain the program's single-season record. Weis helped lead CSUSB to a 39-22-10 record during her four seasons, including an appearance in the NCAA West Regional final in 2013.

The 2026 CSUSB Hall of Fame Induction ceremony will take place on Saturday, October 10 as part of the University's Homecoming festivities. After the ceremony, the group will be honored at the women's volleyball program's Homecoming match against Menlo at 5 p.m.
