SAN BERNARDINO, Calif. — The California State University San Bernardino baseball team opens the 2026 CCAA Baseball Tournament this afternoon at Fiscalini Field, taking on the fourth-seeded Cal State Los Angeles Golden Eagles.

This matchup is a win-or-go-home scenario, with the victor advancing to the double-elimination round. The winner will face Cal State Monterey Bay on Thursday, the defending champions of the last three CCAA Tournaments. 

How They Got Here 

CSUSB closed out the regular season at 23-25 overall and 15-16 in CCAA play, earning the final spot in the conference tournament. Cal State LA finished 26-24 overall and 16-16 in conference action to claim the No. 4 seed. 

Recent Meetings 

The Coyotes swept a four-game series against the Golden Eagles earlier this season at Fiscalini Field. 

Players to Watch 

Garret Barto (Pittsburgh, Pa.) and Eddie Alfaro (Moreno Valley, Calif.) led the way for CSUSB this season, each earning first-team All-CCAA honors. Barto hit .433 with 16 home runs and 48 RBIs, while Alfaro posted a .409 average with four home runs, 33 RBIs, and four stolen bases. Barto was recognized at first base, while Alfaro earned honors at shortstop. 

On the mound, Kailer Saunders (Boise, Idaho) and Devyn Hernandez (Pasco, Wash.) have been steady for the Coyotes, with one expected to get the start against Cal State LA. Both received All-CCAA honorable mention recognition. Saunders went 7-3 with a 4.93 ERA and 54 strikeouts across 65.2 innings, while Hernandez finished 3-3 with 72 strikeouts over 64.1 innings. 

Cal State LA is led by two-way standout Jonathan Manuel, who hit .381 with five home runs and 20 RBIs while also posting a 7-3 record on the mound, and Omar Gonzalez, who ranks second in the CCAA with 18 home runs. Both earned first-team All-CCAA honors this season.

The CCAA Tournament First Round matchup between Cal State San Bernardino and Cal State Los Angeles will be play on Wednesday at 4 p.m. at Fiscalini Field, located at 1135 E Highland Avenue in San Bernardino, California. Please note that Fiscalini Field is NOT on Cal State San Bernardino's campus.
