Softball Falls Twice on Senior Day

SAN BERNARDINO, Calif. - The California State University San Bernardino softball team dropped a pair of games to #4 Cal State San Marcos Saturday afternoon to wrap up its 2026 season at the CSUSB Softball Park.

CSUSB fell 11-3 in game one, before dropping a 10-0 decision in game two.

With the defeats, the Coyotes see their season come to a close at 21-29 overall on the season and 10-20 in CCAA play.

Before the games, nine Cal State San Bernardino seniors were honored as they played in their final regular season home games at CSUSB Softball Park. Serina Vue (Chico, Calif.), Brooke Brazill (Clovis, Calif.), Madison Zaro (Chino, Calif.), Annamaria Nuno (Moreno Valley, Calif.), Alex Hooper (Auburn, Calif.), Ashley Legler (San Diego, Calif.), Iris Bejarano (Salinas, Calif.), Sarah Moite (Fresno, Calif.), and Mia Escujuri (Chino Hills, Calif.) were joined on the field by their friends and family for the ceremony.

Game 1 - Cal State San Marcos 11, CSUSB 3 (6 Innings)

The Coyotes did all of their damage at the plate in the bottom of the first inning. Junior Isabella Venegas (Upland, Calif.) opened the scoring with an RBI double, before RBI knocks from Escujuri and Nuno cut the Cougar deficit down to 4-3.

San Marcos scored three in the second and fourth innings, and wrapped up the game with a single run in the top of the sixth.

CSUSB scattered five hits in the win, with two each coming from Venegas and Escujuri.

Game 2 - Cal State San Marcos 10, CSUSB 0 (6 Innings)

CSUSB was overpowered offensively in the final game of the series, collecting just four hits in the defeat.

The Cougars collected five runs in the top of the first, with single runs in the fourth and fifth, and finally closed it out with three in the sixth.

Fittingly, all four Coyote hits came from seniors in the final game of their collegiate career. Brazill, Moite, Escujuri, and Zaro all collected the hits for CSUSB.

The loss was charged to starter Tara Skinner (Menifee, Calif.) in the circle. She allowed five earned runs in 1.0 inning pitched.
