SAN BERNARDINO, Calif. - The California State University San Bernardino softball team earned a pair of wins over Azusa Pacific University Wednesday afternoon in a non-conference doubleheader at the CSUSB Softball Park.
CSUSB rallied to win game one 10-4, before taking game two 8-1.
With the sweep, CSUSB improves to 17-17 overall on the season.

Game 1 - CSUSB 10, Azusa Pacific 4
The Coyotes fell behind by four in the first game of the day, but answered back with three runs in the bottom of the fourth to draw to within one.
Junior Isabella Venegas (Upland, Calif.) drove in the first Coyote run of the game with an RBI single, before starting pitcher Ashley Legler (San Diego, Calif.) helped her own cause with a sacrifice fly to center. An RBI base hit from junior Katie Griego (Rialto, Calif.) capped the scoring for the Yotes in the frame.
It was still 4-3 heading to the bottom of the sixth, when the Coyotes flipped the game on its head by scoring seven runs.Griego knotted the score with a bases loaded hit by pitch, before senior Mia Escujuri (Chino, Calif.) gave the Yotes the lead with a two-RBI single, with a third run scoring on an Azusa Pacific error.
Senior Brooke Brazill (Clovis, Calif.) extended the Coyote lead with an RBI single, before Venegas and Sarah Moite (Fresno, Calif.) each recorded RBI squeezes to wrap up the rally.
Coyote reliever Ava Paquin (Fullerton, Calif.) got the win for the Yotes with a stellar outing out of the bullpen. She threw three shutout innings, allowing only one hit on just 36 pitches for her second win of the season.
Sophomore Iliana Mejia (Beaumont, Calif.) led the CSUSB offense with a 3-for-4 outing with two runs scored in the victory.

Game 2 - CSUSB 8, Azusa Pacific 1
CSUSB got off to a strong start to the contest, as senior Iris Bejarano (Salinas, Calif.) turned around the very first pitch of the bottom of the first for a solo home run, putting the Coyotes ahead 1-0. Two batters later, redshirt sophomore Danyelle Castillo (Atwater, Calif.) connected with a solo homer of her own, stretching CSUSB's lead to two.
The score was still 2-0 in the bottom of the fourth when Bejarano drove in her second and third RBIs of the game with a two-run double down the line in left.
The Yotes broke it open in the bottom of the sixth on one swing, as junior Katie Griego (Rialto, Calif.) belted a grand slam over the wall in left to make it 8-1.Â
In the circle, freshman Mo Cash (Upland, Calif.) threw a gem to earn her third victory of the season. She allowed just one hit until conceding a solo homer in the top of the sixth for the lone Cougar run of the game. In the contest, she allowed just two hits while striking out eight.
Bejarano and Griego notched the only multi-hit games for the Yotes, each going 2-for-3 and combining to drive in seven of the eight Coyote runs.

Next up for the Coyotes, they will travel down to Vanguard University for a non-conference doubleheader against the Lions on Friday. First pitch in game one of the twinbill is set for 12 p.m.
