#12 Women's Volleyball Dominates Dominguez Hills

SAN BERNARDINO, Calif. - Cal State San Bernardino marked its 2025 CCAA Tournament championship banner unveiling with a 3-0 victory over Cal State Dominguez Hills on Saturday night at Kim Cherniss Court at Coussoulis Arena. Set scores were 25-9, 25-7 and 25-14.

With the win, the Coyotes improved to 13-2 overall and 5-1 in CCAA play.

CSUSB scored the first four points of the match and used another 4-0 run to build an 8-1 advantage. The lead grew to 14-4 behind two kills from senior Kacie Pedersen, a kill by freshman Lilly Hartman and a block from senior Allison Legates and Hartman.

Pedersen later served six consecutive points as the Coyotes extended their lead to 21-5. She finished the opening set with six kills on seven attempts and added a service ace. Hartman recorded three kills, while the Coyotes totaled three blocks and committed no attack errors. CSUSB hit .538 with 14 kills and held the Toros to a -.115 percentage in the 25-9 win.

The second set was tied at 1-1 before the Coyotes moved ahead for good. Leading 4-3, CSUSB put together a 12-0 run on sophomore libero Saniyah Sobers' serve to take control at 16-3. Pedersen had four kills during the stretch, junior Kisa Sagiao added two and the Coyotes recorded two blocks.

CSUSB hit .478 in the set with 14 kills and three errors on 23 attempts. Legates converted all three of her attacks and contributed three block assists, while Pedersen and Sagiao had four and two kills, respectively. The Coyotes limited Cal State Dominguez Hills to four kills and forced nine attack errors for a -.147 hitting percentage.

The Coyotes opened the third set with six straight points behind junior McKenna Edwards' serve. Junior Sarai Ross supplied three kills during the run, while Sagiao and senior M'Kera Drake combined for a block.

Cal State Dominguez Hills never got closer than four points the rest of the way. CSUSB moved ahead 12-4 following consecutive Toro attack errors, then stretched its lead to 19-8 on a Pedersen kill and Ross service ace. Sagiao completed the sweep with the Coyotes' 16th kill of the set.

CSUSB hit .400 in the finale. Ross had five kills, Pedersen added five on seven attempts and Drake recorded three without an error.

The Coyotes finished with 44 kills and seven attack errors on 79 swings for a .468 hitting percentage. They held Cal State Dominguez Hills to 16 kills and a -.054 percentage while posting an 8-1 advantage in total blocks. CSUSB never trailed and allowed only one tie throughout the match.

Pedersen led all players with 15 kills on .591 hitting and added 11 digs. Ross finished with seven kills on a .429 percentage, while Drake and Hartman each had five kills without an error. Edwards totaled 20 assists and 13 digs, junior Jaiden Van Horn added nine assists and Sobers recorded 11 digs and eight assists.

CSUSB returns to action Wednesday against Point Loma. First serve is scheduled for 5 p.m. at Kim Cherniss Court at Coussoulis Arena.
