TURLOCK, Calif. – #6 California State University San Bernardino men's soccer remained unbeaten Thursday afternoon, earning a 1-0 road victory over Stanislaus State at Warrior Stadium.
The win improved the Coyotes to 8-0-2 overall and 4-0-0 in CCAA play.
CSUSB broke through in the 21st minute when redshirt senior Anthony Luna dribbled forward, took a touch and sent a through ball over the defense toward the left side. Sophomore Jesse Gonzalez ran onto it and fired a left-footed shot past the goalkeeper to give the Coyotes a 1-0 lead.
The Yotes' offense kept firing throughout the match, outshooting Stanislaus State in both halves. CSUSB finished with 17 shots to the Warriors' 13, while putting six shots on goal.
Fifth-year goalkeeper Donovan Palomares recorded his second straight shutout, playing all 90 minutes in goal. Stanislaus State managed just one shot on target all afternoon, which Palomares turned away to keep the Warriors off the scoreboard.
Next up for CSUSB, they will continue their road trip with a contest against UC Merced on Sunday. Kickoff is set for 11 a.m.
