Christie Joines Tabbed Senior Associate Athletic Director & Senior Woman Administrator

SAN BERNARDINO, Calif. - California State University San Bernardino Director of Athletics Shareef Amer has announced the hiring of Christie Joines as the university's new Senior Associate Athletic Director and Senior Woman Administrator (SWA). Joines, a highly respected athletics administrator with more than 25 years of experience in intercollegiate athletics, officially joined the Coyotes at the start of the 2025–26 academic year.

In her role, Joines will serve on the department's senior leadership team, working closely with Amer to oversee day-to-day operations for CSUSB's 10 athletic programs. She will play a pivotal role in developing and implementing the department's strategic plan, shaping policies and procedures, and supporting key initiatives that enhance the student-athlete experience. Joines' responsibilities will also include oversight of compliance services, student-athlete academic services, game operations, facilities, and equipment. In addition, she will serve as sport administrator for selected teams, as well as Deputy Title IX Coordinator and Student Conduct officer.

Joines arrives at CSUSB after nearly five years at Cal Poly Pomona, a fellow member of the California Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA). As Associate Athletic Director and Deputy Title IX Coordinator for the Broncos, she played an integral role in ensuring compliance across the department, serving as the primary liaison with both the NCAA and CCAA. She managed athletic grant-in-aid budgets, oversaw the National Letter of Intent program, and directed student services operations. Joines also served as sport supervisor for two of CPP's nationally-ranked programs—women's volleyball and baseball—helping guide them to success at the conference and national levels.

Before her tenure at Cal Poly Pomona, Joines spent more than two decades at the University of La Verne, where she built a reputation as a trusted leader in compliance and student-athlete services. As Assistant Athletic Director for Compliance & Eligibility, she managed all aspects of eligibility and compliance for 20 sport programs and more than 550 student-athletes. She also worked closely with student-athlete leadership groups, including serving as advisor for the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC) and the Champs Life Skills program, while contributing on numerous institutional and conference committees.

"We are thrilled to welcome Christie to CSUSB," said Amer. "Her depth of experience within the CCAA and her proven track record in compliance, student-athlete services, and sport administration make her an outstanding addition to our department. Christie's leadership will be instrumental in strengthening our operations and enhancing the overall student-athlete experience at CSUSB, both on and off the field."

I'm excited for the opportunity to join an institution that is forward thinking and values academics and athletics," said Joines. "I'm looking forward to working with a department of outstanding staff, coaches, and student-athletes. Providing the best possible student-athlete experience is the top priority and I look forward to being an integral part of that. I want to thank Shareef Amer for allowing me this great opportunity and to work alongside such a dynamic leader and staff. I look forward to working hard for our scholar-athletes, coaches, and staff to continue to build on the tradition of excellence already in place."

Joines earned both her bachelor's and master's degrees from the University of La Verne. With her decades of experience and commitment to student-athlete success, she is poised to make an immediate and lasting impact on Coyote Athletics.
