CSUSB Athletics Saddened to Announce Loss of Cristen (Trent) Brink '07

SAN BERNARDINO, Calif. - The California State University San Bernardino Department of Athletics is saddened to announce the passing of legendary former women's volleyball student-athlete Cristen (Trent) Brink '07, and her husband Clinton, in a tragic incident over the weekend in Arkansas.

Cristen played four seasons for the Coyotes from 2002-2005, and is still the program's all-time leader in single-game (75), season (1,603), and career (5,236) assists. She capped her career by being named an American Volleyball Coaches Association All-America Honorable Mention as a senior.

"Cristen was truly an iconic figure in our program who was loved by every single one of her teammates," said Kim Cherniss, head coach of Cal State San Bernardino women's volleyball since 1991. "She was unapologetically herself, and her teammates loved her for it. My heart breaks for her family, friends, and all of her former teammates."

She graduated from Cal State San Bernardino in 2007 with a degree in mathematics.

"Cristen was one the top setters in the storied history of our program, and still holds every assist record at our University," said Director of Athletics Shareef Amer. "Our program's continued success over the past two decades since she graduated is a direct result of the legacy Cristen left. We send our deepest condolences to her friends and family during this unbearably difficult time."

The Department of Athletics is planning to honor Cristen at a home women's volleyball match this fall. Details will follow at a later date.
