Men's Basketball Knocked Off by Cal State Los Angeles

LOS ANGELES, Calif. - The California State University San Bernardino men's basketball team lost to the Cal State Los Angeles Golden Eagles by a score of 86-78.

With the loss, the Coyotes are 16-9 with a 9-7 record in CCAA.

CSUSB fell behind early as the Golden Eagles jumped out to an 8-0 lead in the first 1:04 of the game, before the Coyotes finally got on the board with a three-pointer from senior Andrew Henderson (Chatsworth, Calif.). They cut Cal State Los Angeles' lead to two points after another three-pointer by senior Jordan Jones (Macon, Ga.), but the Golden Eagles responded with a 16-4 run, pushing their lead to 32-18.

The Yotes answered with a 6-0 run, with senior Charlie Henderson (Ladera Ranch, Calif.) and graduate student Evan Oliver (San Bernardino, Calif.) contributing to the rally. The rest of the half remained competitive, and CSUSB trailed 44-37 at halftime after a three-pointer by Oliver.

The Coyotes started the second half behind, and the Golden Eagles maintained a steady 8-to-12 point lead for much of the period. CSUSB closed the gap to just three points, 63-60, following a layup by Andrew Henderson with eight minutes to play, but that was as close as the Yotes would get. The Golden Eagles pulled away late to secure the win.

Oliver was CSUSB's leading scorer with a 20-point, 10-assist double-double, while Andrew Henderson and Charlie Henderson posted 18 and 17 points, respectively.

Next up, CSUSB returns home to face Cal State San Marcos on Thursday. Tip-off at Coussoulis Arena is scheduled for 7:30 p.m.
