SAN BERNARDINO, Calif. - The California State University San Bernardino women's soccer earned three massive points by knocking off Cal State San Marcos 1-0 in a CCAA contest Sunday afternoon at Premier Field.
With the win, the Coyotes move to 7-5-3 overall on the season and 5-2-1 in CCAA play.
The only goal of the game came in just the 11th minute on a marker from Coyote senior Emilee Perez (Corona, Calif.). Perez tapped a perfect Jackeline Fuentes (San Bernardino, Calif.) cross past an on-charging keeper and into the back of the net to put the Coyotes ahead 1-0.
Cal State San Bernardino held a 16-10 edge in shots in the contest, including 12-6 in the second half, but still Perez's 11th minute tally was the only one that crossed the goal line.
In goal, Ryann Munoz (Wrightwood, Calif.) earned the clean sheet with five saves, her second consecutive shutout. She improves to 7-4-3 with the victory
Next up for the Coyotes, they will start a massive weekend against the CCAA's Los Angeles representatives, first with Cal State LA on Friday. Kickoff from University Stadium is slated for 4:30 p.m.
