SAN BERNARDINO, Calif. - The California State University San Bernardino men's basketball team picked up a thrilling 56-55 victory over Cal State Monterey Bay Saturday afternoon in CCAA action at Coussoulis Arena.
With the win, CSUSB improves to 13-6 overall and 6-4 in the CCAA.
The Coyotes controlled the opening 20 minutes, outpacing the Otters by a margin of 34-26. Senior
Evan Guillory (Springfield, Mo.) led all players with 11 first half points, while the Yotes held Monterey Bay to just 12-for-33 (36.4 percent) shooting.
Cal State Monterey Bay scored the first 13 points of second half, holding the Coyotes off the board until 8:13 into the period. The Otters would build their lead to as much as nine points with just over eight minutes to play, but the Coyotes answered with a 12-4 run over 3:18 to cut the deficit down to one with just over four minutes to play.Â

Andrew Henderson (Chatsworth, Calif.) drained a jumper from the corner to put the Yotes ahead for good. On Monterey Bay's ensuing possession, with a chance to win the game, Henderson picked up a key steal as the horn sounded to secure the win.
Guillory finished as the contest's leading scorer, posting 17 points, six boards, and four assists. Henderson recorded 13 points and 11 rebounds, while senior
Nic Welp (Seattle, Wash.) notched 12 points and 10 rebounds to each post double-doubles for the Coyotes.Â
Next up for the Yotes, they will travel to San Francisco State on Thursday for a CCAA contest against the Gators. Tip-off from the Don Nasser Family Plaza is slated for 7:30 p.m.
