STILL DANCING: Men's Basketball Dominates Gannon to Advance to Final Four

EVANSVILLE, Ind. - The California State University San Bernardino men's basketball team advanced to the Final Four with a dominant 99-65 victory over #3 Gannon University Tuesday afternoon in the Elite Eight at the Ford Center.

With the win, the Coyotes advance to the Final Four on Thursday afternoon. They will play the winner of the quarterfinal between Nova Southeastern and Southern New Hampshire at 11 a.m. PT.

The teams went back and forth in the early stages, but back-to-back threes from Sedrick Altman (Rialto, Calif.) with approximately nine minutes to play gave CSUSB a 24-19 edge and began to shift momentum towards the Yotes.

A minute and a half later, LeAndrew Knight (Lompoc, Calif.) recorded back-to-back old-fashioned three-point plays to give the Coyotes a 30-21 lead.

They would build their lead to as much as 13, and took a 12-point advantage into the locker room at 44-32. Altman and Knight each posted 14 points to lead the way offensively before the break.

The Coyotes dominated in the second half to cruise to the one-sided victory. The Yotes posted 55 points in the second half and shot 62.9 percent (22-for-35) to seal the win.

Midway through the second half, Altman hit a pair of free throws to give him 1,000 points for his collegiate career. The free throws gave the Coyotes a 20-point lead at 66-46 with 10:39 to play.

CSUSB put the contest to bed with a 21-4 run over the course of six minutes, capped by an emphatic breakaway dunk from Knight to make the score 89-56 with 3:33 to play.

The Coyotes built their largest lead of the day up to 37 points at 99-62 with an Evan Guillory (Springfield, Mo.) free throw with 48 seconds to play.

CSUSB shot an astounding 54.8 percent (40-for-73) from the floor in the contest, while Gannon was held to just 27.9 percent shooting (19-for-68). CSUSB was also dominant on the glass, out-rebounding the Golden Knights 59-30 on the afternoon.

Altman had a career-game for the Coyotes, notching 37 points in the win, a career best. He shot 13-for-18 (72.2 percent) overall and 7-for-10 (70 percent) from three in the victory.

Knight also posted a career-high in points, notching 29 points and nine boards. Altman and Knight combined to outscore Gannon on their own in the victory.

Senior Robby Robinson (San Diego, Calif.) posted the game's only double-double with 12 points and 11 boards, while junior Jalen Flanagan (Oceanside, Calif.) grabbed a career-high 12 rebounds.
