Men's Basketball Falls to Nova Southeastern in Final Four

EVANSVILLE, Ind. - The California State University San Bernardino men's basketball team saw its 2023-24 season come to a close on Thursday afternoon in the National Semifinal, falling 91-77 to Nova Southeastern at the Ford Center.

With the defeat, CSUSB closes its season with an overall record of 27-8. The season featured Cal State San Bernardino's third consecutive CCAA Regular Season title, second straight NCAA West Region Championship, and second consecutive trip to the Division II Final Four in Evansville, Ind.

The Coyotes struggled against the full-court press in the opening 20 minutes, and trailed 53-40 at the break. CSUSB turned the ball over 10 times in the half, and the Sharks held a 17-3 in second chance points.

Chris Mitchell (Oceanside, Calif.) led the way with 13 first half points for the Yotes, while Evan Guillory (Springfield, Mo.) posted 10 points.

CSUSB came out hot out of the locker room, opening on a 21-9 run, capped by a LeAndrew Knight lay-in, to cut the deficit to one at 62-61 with 12:34 to play.

The Yotes would get no closer however, as Nova Southeastern posted 16 of the game's next 20 points to take a 78-65 lead, and would not look back on their way to the 91-77 final.

Sedrick Altman (Rialto, Calif.) finished as the contest's leading scorer for the Coyotes, posting 27 points, 20 of which in the second half. Mitchell posted 17 for CSUSB, while Knight closed with 12.
