HAYWARD, Calif. -Â The California State University San Bernardino men's basketball team fell short against California State University East Bay by a final score of 64-59 Saturday night in CCAA action at Pioneer Gymnasium.
With the defeat, the Coyotes to 19-6 overall and 14-5 in the CCAA. Their five-game win streak comes to an end with the loss.
San Bernardino held a narrow advantage at the end of the first half, carrying a 36-34 lead into the locker room. The Yotes had their largest lead of the contest at 32-25 with 4:49 remaining after a
Bryce Mitchell (Oceanside, Calif.) three-pointer, but the Pioneers battled back to within a basketball by the time the horn sounded for the break. CSUSB senior
Sedrick Altman (Rialto, Calif.) led all players with 10 first half points.
The Pioneers started the second half on a 19-4 run, taking their largest lead of the game at 53-40 just under six minutes into the second half, and would never look back. The Coyotes battled back to within as few as two points with 1:19 to go, but could not fully close the gap.
Only two Coyotes finished the game in double figures, led by junior
Chris Mitchell (Oceanside, Calif.), who posted a game-high 18 points. Altman was the only other Yote in double figures with 14 points. On the glass, senior
Robby Robinson (San Diego, Calif.) pulled down 12 boards for Cal State San Bernardino, a game-high.
Next up for San Bernardino, they will play a 7:30 p.m. contest against Stanislaus State on Thursday evening at Coussoulis Arena.
