TURLOCK, Calif. - The #21 California State University San Bernardino women's volleyball team dropped a CCAA contest 3-0 to Stanislaus State Saturday evening at Fitzpatrick Arena. Set scores were 25-19, 25-22, and 25-22.
With the defeat, Cal State San Bernardino drops to 8-5 overall and 4-2 in CCAA play.
CSUSB struggled offensively in set number one, with 10 attack errors and a hitting percentage of .047 en route to a 25-19 defeat. Senior Ashley Robinson (Tucson, Ariz.) led the Coyotes with five kills in the opening set.
The Yotes put away 16 kills in set two, but still could not down the Warriors, falling 25-22. Robinson looked sharp with eight kills in the set.
Cal State San Bernardino took a big lead early in set number three as they sought a major comeback, but could not sustain their run, falling by an identical 25-22 score as the Warriors completed the sweep. The Yotes scored the first five points of the set thanks to a Jordan Cherniss (Colton, Calif.) kill and four consecutive Stanislaus service errors, but the Warriors climbed all the way back to clinch the victory.Â
Robinson was the only player in the match with double digits in kills, leading the way with 17. Senior setter Kylie Thomas (San Bernardino, Calif.) was the only Coyote with a double-double, posting 17 assists and 10 digs.
Next up for the Yotes, they will continue CCAA action with a contest at Cal Poly Humboldt on Thursday evening. First serve is slated for 7 p.m.
