Kim Cherniss, as well as assistant coaches
Danny Scott and
Kelcie Tolan, have announced seven student-athletes that will be joining the storied Yotes volleyball program this coming season.
Sierra Bernard - 5'10" | FR | S
Bernard is an incoming freshman from Reno High School in Reno, Nevada. While at Reno HS, Bernard was named First Team All-Northern Nevada, First Team All-State, 2X Northern Regional Champion, and 2022 State Champion runner-up.
"Sierra has great hands and has composure beyond her years on the court. She has the size to defend at the net, and the confidence to lead a team. We are looking forward to seeing her develop." – Coach Cherniss
M'Kera Drake – 5'11" | FR | MB
Drake is an incoming freshman from Summit High School in Fontana, California. Drake was named All-Sunkist League in 2021 and 2022, and was a member of her high school honor roll.
"M'Kera is exactly the high-level athlete we look for in a middle. She's quick off the ground and has great lateral speed. She has the potential develop into an impact player for us. We are very excited to have her." – Coach Cherniss
Shira Lahav - 5'9" | SR | LIB
A senior transfer from UC Davis, Lahav led UCD in total digs and digs per set in 2022. She was named 4X Big West defensive player of the week and Big West All-Academic team. A native from Bat Hefer, Israel, Lahav played club for Maccabi Raanana. She also played for the Israeli national team at the 2016 U20 European Championships as well as the 2019 European Championships.

Allison Legates - 5'10" | FR | MB/OPP
Legates is an incoming freshman from The King's Academy High School in Los Altos, California. Legates played for Vision VBC, finishing in the Top 10 at USAV Nationals the past two seasons at the open level.
"Allison is crazy athletic. Her speed and jumping ability will make her a threat anywhere at the net. She is also the consummate teammate and we couldn't be more thrilled to be adding her to our team." – Coach Cherniss
Kacie Pedersen - 5'9" | FR | OH
Pedersen is an incoming freshman from MLK High School in Riverside, California. Pedersen was named Big VIII All League and MLK High School MVP.
"Kacie will compete for court time from the jump. She is a true 6-rotation player. As she matures physically, she will only get better. Bringing players like Kacie onto our roster is pivotal to our long-term success." – Coach Cherniss
Trinity Sheridan - 5'11" | FR | OPP
Sheridan is a transfer from UNLV, after originally coming from Prairie Ridge High School in Crystal Lake, Illinois. While at Prairie Ridge HS, Sheridan was named Under Armour Girls Honorable Mention while helping the team win a conference title in 2018 and finishing fourth place in the state tournament.

Allison Whiteman - 5'10" | JR | OPP
A junior transfer from Mt. SAC, Whiteman had a decorated 2022 season being named CCCWVCA All-Southern California Region Team, CCCWVCA State Player of the Week, and South Coast Conference MVP. She was also named CCCWVCA All-State Academic Team in 2021.
"Allison brings much needed depth and experience to the pin position on our roster. She's a very smooth athlete, jumps well and has great control. Has the potential to really break out. We are excited to see her develop." – Coach Cherniss
