GREENSBORO, NC – CSUSB baseball head coach Mike Nadeau has been named the 2023 ABCA/ATEC Division II West Region Coach of the Year, it was announced on Tuesday morning. You can view the full release HERE.
 
In his sixth year at the helm, Nadeau led the Yotes on an unprecedented run in 2023, breaking the program win record while taking the team to semifinals of the College World Series in Cary, NC.
 
Entering the 2023 season, the Yotes had not had a winning season since 2012 and had never made the NCAA Tournament in their 31-year history at the Division II level. That all changed when Nadeau led CSUSB to a program-best 46-19 (.708) record, culminating with nine players earning All-CCAA honors and three being named All-Americans. Nadeau and the Yotes not only made the NCAA Tournament, they dominated it. CSUSB went a perfect 5-0 through the regionals and super regionals, winning their first DII west region championship in program history on May 27^th at Cal State Monterey Bay.
 
Despite losing the first game of the College World Series, the Yotes went on to win three straight elimination games on the national stage, including taking down the #1 team in the nation in Millersville. The season would end in the semifinals against Rollins College, coming just one game short of playing for a national championship.
 
The Yotes were ranked as high as #4 in the top 25 poll after their historic 17-2 start to the season. They also finished with an impressive 24-7 record at home.
 
In addition to dominating the west region, the 2023 Yotes broke nearly every single school record in every facet of the game. This included most hits, home runs, runs scored, RBI, innings pitched, saves, strikeouts, and fielding percentage. In total, Nadeau's 2023 team broke 31 school records while making the deepest run in school history, cementing themselves as the greatest team to wear a CSUSB uniform.
