Baseball Makes History With First NCAA DII Appearance, Will Host at Fiscalini

INDIANAPOLIS, IN – On Sunday night, the NCAA announced the field of 56 teams set to compete in the 2023 Road to Cary. For the first time in CSUSB's NCAA Division II era (1992-now), CSUSB baseball was selected to compete in the NCAA Division II Tournament.

As the #2 seed in the region, they were also given hosting privileges and will be welcoming both #3 Azusa Pacific and #6 Western Oregon to Fiscalini Field for a three-team regional. The winner of the regional will advance to the Super Regionals next weekend, where they will play a best-of-three game series against the winner of the second West Region bracket including #1 Cal State Monterey Bay, #4 Point Loma, and #5 Cal Poly Pomona.

The 2023 CSUSB baseball team has solidified themselves as one of the most successful teams in program history, having already broken the school record for most wins in a season. They previously made back-to-back DIII College World Series appearances in 1990 & 1991.

In the championship game of the CCAA Tournament on May 13th, the Yotes broke both the program record for most runs scored in season and most hits in a season. They also led the conference with 9 All-CCAA selections and had 5 players named All-Tournament team. Arguably one of the most potent offenses in the country, CSUSB was ranked nationally in the Top 10 for nearly the entire season and look to advance to their first-ever Super Regional.

The Western Oregon Wolves and Azusa Pacific Cougars will play in Game 1 of the regional on Thursday, May 18th, at 11:00 AM. The Yotes will play the loser of that game immediately after at approximately 2:00 PM.

Dates: Thursday, May 18th – Saturday, May 20th
Location: Fiscalini Field - San Bernardino, CA
