Friday @ Mangrum Invitational

It was a record-breaking day for Danielle Lister, Sariyah Copeland as well as the Yotes 4X100 meter relay team Friday at the Mangrum Invitational at Cal State San Marcos.
 
Lister broke Taylor Salley's school record in the discus, uncorking a throw of 142 feet 6 inches, well ahead of the previous record of 132 feet, 8 inches set by Salley in April of 2022.
 
Copeland, who owns the fastest 100 meters in program history, improved that record with a 12.02 clocking, 9/10ths of a second faster than her older mark. Teammate Hailey Hunt finished ninth in the event with a personal best of 12.17.
 
CSUSB's 4X100 relay team finished in third place but improved their top performance mark in the event to 46.80, 3/10ths of a second faster than they ran at the University of Redlands Invitational on March 17. The B relay team came in fifth in 48.30.
 
Other top 10 finishes for the Coyotes at the meet were:

• Abby Venglass, seventh in the hammer throw at 133 feet, 9 inches, two feet better than Lister, who was 10^th at 131 feet, 8 inches.
• Gabrielle Aguigui, fourth place in the triple jump at 33 feet, 4.5 inches.
• Kyndahl Carter, 10^th in the 100 hurdles in 14.92, just a tick off her personal best.
• Trailing Lister in the discus were Venglass (fifth at 118 feet, 2 inches) and Elizabeth Rushing, ninth at 113 feet, 5 inches.

 
Other good performances came from Alexis White in the 200 meters, timed in 25.27, just ahead of Sierra Stokes at 25.76; Mai Marroquin in the 800 meters, timed in 2:24.15; Alexis Wallace (4:49.59) and Joanna Lopez (4:49.72) in the 1500 meters.
 
Saturday @ Mangrum Invitational
 
The Yotes took on some of the top NCAA Division 1 programs while competing this weekend.
 
The biggest moment of Saturday's competition came early in the 4X100 meter relay when the Yotes foursome knocked a few more ticks off their already No. 1 all-time record, finishing seventh in the relay in a new program record of 46.52.
 
That finish lowered their previous best in 2023 of 46.80 set the day before at the Mangrum Invitational at Cal State San Marcos. The new mark puts them No. 2 in the CCAA conference behind Cal Poly Pomona's foursome that ran 45.72 on Friday at San Marcos.
 
The relay team was the only top 10 placement for the Yotes on Saturday. The highest finish in individual events was a 21^st place by Danielle Lister in the discus at 131 feet, 6 inches. On Friday, Lister set a new team record with a toss of 142 feet, 6 inches.
 
CSUSB finished 23^rd of 26 teams at the Aztecs meet with just four points from its relay performance. USC won the women's division with 144.5 points, followed by Fresno State, and Arizona State.
