No. 14 Yotes Secure Spot in CCAA Tournament With Win Over Otters

SAN BERNARDINO, Calif. – The CSUSB men's basketball team defeated Cal State Monterey Bay on Thursday night, improving to 19-3 on the season. With their fourth straight win, the Yotes secured a spot in the CCAA Conference Tournament in Turlock at the beginning of March.

Robby Robinson and Brandon Knapper led the way for the Yotes on Thursday night, each scoring over 20 points. Knapper made an impressive 7 treys in the game, shooting 50 percent beyond the arc while grabbing five rebounds. Robinson earned his fifth double-double of the season, scoring 21 points while grabbing 10 boards. The San Diego native has now collected double-digit rebounds in seven games this season and ranks second on the team with 174 on the season.

Dontrell Shuler and Eddie Davis both contributed to the scoring as well, recording 17 and 10 points respectively. The team shot 48 percent from the field and three-point range, finishing with 95 points.

Per usual, the Yotes dominated their opponents on the glass, collecting 50 boards to the Otter's 32. Their 21 offensive rebounds helped them score 19 second-chance points, giving them some separation early in the game. CSUSB would carry that momentum into the second half, walking away with a 95-80 win.
