SAN BERNARDINO, Calif. – The CSUSB men's basketball team defeated Cal State San Marcos on Thursday night by a score of 74-65. With their fourth straight win, the Yotes improve to 9-1 on the season while remaining a perfect 4-0 in CCAA play. With the loss, CSUSM falls to 6-6 overall while remaining tied for second place in the conference standings.
Robby Robinson had his best game of the season, recording a double-double while tying a season-high 12 points and setting a season-high 16 rebounds. Robinson went a perfect 6-for-6 from the field while also recording one assist. His 16 rebounds is the Yotes' second-highest of the season, one behind
Eddie Davis' 17 rebound performance against Cal Poly Pomona this past Sunday.
Brandon Knapper, CSUSB's leading scorer, once again led the 'Dino Boys with 23 points. The Ontario native has scored double-digits in every single game this season, surpassing the 20-point mark five separate times. Knapper also ranks fourth in the country in three pointers per game at 3.67.
Dontrell Shuler and
Elijah Hardy also delivered double-digit performances against the Cougars, scoring 16 and 10 points respectively.
The Yotes finished the first half with a commanding 38-24 lead. The Cougars, who had previously been nationally ranked at the start of the season, did not back down in the second half. What was once a 19-point lead for the Yotes was quickly narrowed to five in the span of eight minutes. Two key treys from
Elijah Hardy, however, helped the Yotes fend off the Cougars to maintain the lead until the end of the game.
