CHICO, Calif. – The CSUSB baseball team was picked to finish fifth in the CCAA Preseason Coaches' Poll on Wednesday morning, receiving 69 total points. The Yotes are coming off a strong season in 2022, where head coach
Mike Nadeau led CSUSB to a 27-27 overall record while going 21-19 in conference play. Last year was CSUSB's first season with a win percentage at or above .500 since 2012, a season where they finished with 27-20 record.
Austyn Coleman,
Jake Borst, and
Deshawn Johnson were recognized in the preseason watchlist, after all three received All-CCAA Second Team honors last season. Returners
Giovanni Del Negro,
Garrett Macias, and
Oscar Rauda also received All-CCAA Honorable Mention honors last season.
"Cal State San Bernardino matched Chico State with three returning All-CCAA selections. The Yotes will bring back second-team selection Austyn Coleman (6-5, 4.16 ERA) on the mound along with his batterymate Jake Borst (.304, 12 HR, 38 RBI). CSUSB will also return All-CCAA second baseman Deshawn Johnson (.343, 38 runs, 13 SB) along with six other regulars in the lineup that came up just one game short of playing for the CCAA Tournament Championship." - CCAA
