#7 Yotes Win Four in Magic Island Hawai'i Classic to Start 2022 Campaign

Jenna Patton earns Most Valuable Player

HONOLULU- The #7 ranked CSUSB Women's Volleyball team began their 2022 campaign on the big island, taking all four matches, including victories over preseason ranked #25 Chaminade University (2-4) and the #21 Lewis University Flyers (3-1). It took a balanced attack from the Yotes to capture the 2022 Magic Island Hawai'i Classic, led by middle-blocker, junior, Jenna Patton, and outside hitter, sophomore, Ashley Robinson.

In a tournament flanked by ranked bookend matches, the opening day featured a hard-fought five-set win against #25 Chaminade (23-25, 16-25, 25-23, 25-14, 15-11) which saw the Yotes down two sets and Hawai'i Hilo (25-14, 22-25, 25-20, 25-17).  Day two began with a victory over Hawai'i Pacific University (0-5) and the Yotes earned the sweep with a four-set thriller over #21 Lewis University (22-25, 25-22, 25-22, 25-22). 

Robinson and Patton were named to the All-Tournament Team and Patton collected the Most Valuable Player.   

The #7 Yotes will continue on the road this weekend September 1-3, competing in Los Angeles at the Cal State LA Tournament.
