ARCATA – The No. 1 seed CSUSB Yotes could not climb all the way back from a slow start and fell 71-85 to the No. 3 seed CSU San Marcos Cougars in the CCAA Tournament Final on Saturday night from Arcata.
The Yotes nearly did climb the mountain, trailing 69-71 with just under four minutes left, but the Cougars finished the game on a 14-2 run.
Brandon Knapper scored 30+ for the second-straight night, with 33 tonight, and
Darius Lubom added 10. The final different in the stat line was seven more free throw attempts for the Cougars and nine more makes at the line.
San Marcos opened the game up 19-2 and the Yotes had to work their way back the entire game, and nearly did until the end.
Both teams are locks to advance to the NCAA Tournament, and the location, times, and opponents will be announced at 7:30 pm tomorrow night. Check CSUSBAthletics.com for updates.
