SAN BERNARDINO, Calif. – For the first round of the NCAA men's basketball tournament, hosted at our very own Coussoulis Arena, the Yotes faced CCAA opponent the Cal Poly Pomona Broncos. The Broncos would sprint out the gate taking a whopping 15 point lead into the half. With the risk of going home, CSUSB fought back every second of the second half to win the game, 72-69.
The Yotes struggled in the first half to find a rhythm. Cal Poly Pomona took the lead with the score at 9-8. Once they took the lead, the Broncos continued to spread that lead with the score 44-25 going into the locker rooms. The Yotes returned to the floor ready to turn things around. CSUSB went on a 10 point streak to bring them within six points from the Broncos. The Yotes kept that moment to the very end, winning the game to advance, 72-69.
