Yotes Win Day Two of Series Against the Broncos

CSUSB hosted Cal Poly Pomona for a doubleheader on Fiscalini Field.

SAN BERNARDINO, Calif. – The Yotes continued their series against the Cal Poly Pomona Broncos with a doubleheader on Fiscalini Field. Going into the game, CSUSB stood 0-1 on the series. The Yotes scored big in the first game, but one homerun on the bottom of the sixth in the second game, sealed the two-win day. CSUSB's series against the Broncos now stands, 2-1.

In the first game the leading pitcher for the Yotes was John Pfeffer who pitched four innings, collecting three strikeouts. Jake Borst, Kyle Csakan, and Riley Parker all hit homeruns. CSUSB connected on 10 hits for seven RBI's on the game. On the defensive end, the Yotes collaborate for 27 putouts on the game. CSUSB won the first game comfortably, 7-1.

The second game, lead pitcher for the Yotes was Andres Quinones who pitched for six innings, collecting six strike outs. CSUSB had a collective four hits on the game and 21 putouts. It was a slow at bat with Deshawn Johnson putting the Yotes on the board with a HR for a single RBI. With the game tied 1-1 at the bottom of the sixth with two outs, Kyle Csakan hit his second home run on the night to seal the victory for CSUSB, 2-1.

"Starting pitchers gave us a chance to stay in both games and some huge hits put us up on the board" said coach Mike Nadeau. "Nothing bigger then Kyle Csakan's blast in the bottom of the 6th! Absolute team wins today with one more tomorrow, we need to build off this."

With one more game to go in the series, the Yotes have an opportunity to win against the 2019 CCAA regular season champions and the projected team to win the same in 2022.

CSUSB is scheduled to play their next game on Sunday, February 27th with first pitch at 12 p.m. at Fiscalini Field against Cal Poly Pomona. Streaming is available on the ccaanetwork.com.
