SAN BERNARDINO, Calif. – Heading into the game the Yotes held an overall record against the Seawolves of 11-13. The Yotes battled and kept the game, but Sonoma State took the win, 70-62.
In the first half,
Tatianna Russell scored 12 of her 15 points and had six rebounds. There were five lead changes in the first half with Sonoma State having the largest lead of thirteen points. The Yotes moved the ball, grabbing nine assists before half-time. CSUSB kept close behind heading into the locker rooms with the score 35-30.
The score tied four more times in the second half. Going into the third quarter
Jaida Jackson scored a layup at the buzzer taking the score to 51-51. Sonoma State pulled out of reach in the fourth quarter and won the game, 70-62.
"We let that one slip away" said coach
Casandra Renno. "They took care of business on the free throw line, where we came up short."
Leading in scoring for CSUSB was
Destiny Jackson who collected 16 points, two assists, and one block. Russell scored 15 points, and had eight rebounds and five assists.
Mia Dufresne added 14 points, five rebounds, and one block on the game.
