No. 15 Yotes Open CCAA Play With Win Over Gators

SAN FRANCISCO, Calif. – The CSUSB men's basketball team defeated San Francisco State on Thursday night, winning 76-66 to improve to 6-1 on the season. This was also the Yotes' first CCAA matchup of the season, giving them a 1-0 record in conference play.

Just as the women's team did in the first game, five different Yotes scored double-digits in the men's win over the Gators. This time it was Brandon Knapper, Mahmoud Fofana, Dontrell Shuler, Eddie Davis, and Darius Mickens. Together, the team shot 42 percent from both the field and three-point range.

Knapper and Fofana led the scoring with 17 points each, with Knapper increasing his season total to 140 while also gathering seven assists and going 8-for-8 from the line. He currently leads the No. 15 Yotes in points scored while ranking second in the CCAA behind Jaylen Wells of Sonoma State.

Dontrell Shuler is not far behind with 118 on the season, ranking sixth in the conference. The dynamic duo of Knapper and Shuler currently account for 45 percent of the Yotes' points this season.

The Yotes collected 46 rebounds to the Gators' 33, led by Fofana (9), Mickens (9), Davis (7), and Robby Robinson (7). Those four also lead the team in rebounding on the season, each averaging at least 5.0 per game.
