CCAA Defensive Player of the Week

Makena Overbey has been named this week's Volleyball Defensive Player of the Week, for the week of Oct. 3-9.
Overbey tallied 43 digs in nine sets in No. 15 CSUSB's two wins over 17th ranked Cal Poly Pomona, snapping the Broncos' 14-match winning streak. The senior from Fontana helped limit Cal Poly Pomona to its lowest hitting percentages of the season of .167 and .145 in back-to-back nights.
Friday in San Bernardino, Overbey had 15 digs with five assists in the Yotes' five-set win. The following evening in Pomona, she picked up 28 digs in the four-set win. Her 28 digs in a four-set match ties for the best this season in the CCAA — a figure Overbey has posted twice.
Overbey, who averaged 4.78 digs per set against Pomona, is now third in the CCAA with 4.38 digs per set.
CCAA Setter of the Week
For the second consecutive week, Cal State San Bernardino's
Marlee Nunley has been selected as the CCAA Volleyball Setter of the Week.Â
Nunley led the 15th ranked Yotes to two wins over rival and No. 17-ranked Cal Poly Pomona to earn the award for the week of Oct. 3-9.
The junior from Murrieta handed out 88 assists in nine sets (9.78 assists per set), including a season-high 49 on Saturday. Nunley also posted two double-doubles with 21 digs, six kills, seven blocks and two service aces.
Friday night in San Bernardino, Nunley dished 39 assists with 11 digs plus three blocks, two aces and was 4-0-4 in attacking to lead CSUSB over Cal Poly Pomona. The Yotes snapped the Broncos' 14-match winning streak that night. Saturday in Pomona, Nunley recorded a season-best 49 assists to go with 10 digs, four blocks and two kills to move CSUSB to tie for second at 8-2 in CCAA play.
The All-CCAA first team setter is currently fourth in the conference with 7.99 assists per set.
The CSUSB Yotes travel north this week to take on Chico State (Friday) and Stanislaus State (Saturday).
