SAN BERNARDINO, Calif. - In men's soccer coach Josh Hill's opening home match of the season, the Yotes worked together to pull of the win against the Westcliff Warriors from Irvine.
In the 11th minute of the first half, Captain Francisco Sierra scored the first goal for the Yotes off of a penalty kick. The remainder of the half Westcliff went scoreless.
In the 42nd minute, Victor Chavez scored a goal assisted by Sierra. In the 54th minute, the Warriors were able to squeeze their only goal. Chavez went on to return the favor with a clean assist to Sierra, setting him up for his second goal of the match in the 69th minute.
The final goal was by Coby Atkinson in 76th minute after another great pass from Chavez. Goalkeeper Juan Nieves ended the match with eight total saves.
"Its been an exciting preseason. New players, new staff and new concepts," head coach Josh Hill said. "Everyone has been diligent in their efforts and the group is making strides in the right direction. We are looking forward to the rest of the season and growing as a group."
