SAN BERNARDINO, Calif. - Heading into the game, the Yotes held an overall record of 13-9 against the Stanislaus State Warriors. CSUSB would close the score gap but could not catch the Warriors. Stanislaus State took the win, 61-48
In the first quarter Stanislaus State came out the gate with the full court pressure. The Yotes worked as a team to break the press but struggle to score from the paint. CSUSB scored six of their 13 points in the paint as the Warriors collected four blocks in the first quarter. Stanislaus State took the lead at the end of the first quarter, 22-13.
The second quarter the Warriors expanded their lead to 18 points at one point. The Yotes collected 11 rebounds, four offensive and seven defensive rebounds. CSUSB scored six points from fast breaks and scored another six points in the paint. It would not be enough as Stanislaus State kept the lead going into halftime, 37-19.
In the third quarter the Yotes were outscored 10-18, as the Warriors expanded their lead by 22 points. CSUSB had 12 points from the bench and 18 points in the paint. They also capitalized on Stanislaus States errors scoring 12 points off turnovers. Warriors would keep the lead going into the fourth quarter, 55-29.
The Yotes defensive intensity came out in the fourth quarter as they only allowed Stanislaus State to score six points on the quarter. CSUSB battled at the board for 13 rebounds. The Yotes forced five turnovers and they had two blocks. They would inch closer and closer to the Warriors but could not catch them. Stanislaus State took the win, 61-48.
Leading in points for the Yotes was
Nina Wallace who score 11 points, four rebounds, and three steals.
Samantha Henley added 10 points of her own, and had five rebounds, three assists, and two steals.
Destiny Jackson scored eight points and had three rebounds and one assists.
The Yotes next competition is on Saturday, December 11th, against Westcliff University at 1 p.m. back in Irvine.
