No. 25 Yotes Win Thriller At No. 9 PLNU, 79-75

Three pointer by Brandon Knapper seals the win for the Yotes, 79-75.

SAN DIEGO, Calif. - Heading into the game the No. 25 Yotes held an overall record of 0-2 against the Point Loma Sea Lions. In 2020, PLNU won the NCAA PacWest Championships for the second year in a row. CSUSB started the season with two straight victories this past weekend in Seaside. That streak continues as the Yotes downed the No. 9 ranked Sea Lions, 79-75, Wednesday night on the road.

At the start of the game CSUSB gained an 11-0 lead as Point Loma could not find their target. The Yotes began to struggle scoring a basket, and the Sea Lions were able to catch them with the scoreboard at 13-13. Point Loma continued to expand their lead into halftime, 40-32.

The Sea Lions held onto the lead until Darius Mickens went for the drive and hit the layup give the Yotes the lead, 61-60. With six minutes left in the game the lead would be exchanged five times. With 24 second remaining in the game, Point Loma scored off of a free throw to tie the game 75-75.

Darius Lubom found Brandon Knapper who hit the game winning three point shot to seal the victory with three seconds on the clock. Lubom returned and scored on a free throw. The Yotes downed the Sea Lions, 79-75.
