SAN DIEGO, Calif. - In Yotes home opener they faced the Point Loma Nazarene University Sea Lions. Point Loma took the lead in the first quarter and expanded their lead each quarter. The Sea Lions took the win, 85-55.
In the first quarter, the Yotes were hanging in close to the Sea Lions. Point Loma's lead did not exceed nine points. The score at the end of the first quarter was, 23-14. It was the second quarter that gave the Sea Lions gained a comfortable lead that CSUSB could not overcome. The Yotes scored 13 points against Point Loma's 30 points in the second quarter. The Sea Lions took the lead going into halftime, 53-27.
CSUSB's defense started to slow down Point Loma in the third quarter. The Yotes forced five turnovers in the third quarter and 19 turnovers on the game. CSUSB scored the most points in the third quarter, connecting for 16 points. The Sea Lions remained in the lead at the end of the third quarter, 71-43. The Yotes would hold Point Loma to only 14 points in the fourth quarter, but it would not be enough as the Sea Lions took the win, 85-55.
Leading in scoring for CSUSB was
Destiny Jackson who collected 14 points on the game, and had three rebounds and one block.
Nina Wallace and
Jaida Jackson both added six points each. 12 players put points on the board, for a total of 25 points off of the bench. Yotes score 36 points in the paint, more than half of their total score.
The Yotes will continue their play in San Diego, tomorrow Saturday November 13
