SAN BERNARDINO, Calif. - The Yotes finished the regular season in third place in the CCAA Conference. This past Sunday, on Premier Field, CSUSB defeated the Chico State Wildcats, 1-0. They advanced to the CCAA Championship semifinals were they faced the CCAA second place holder, Cal Poly Pomona Broncos. The Yotes forced the overtime, but ultimately lost to the Broncos, 2-1.
In the first half, the Yotes put the pressure on the Broncos as they took 10 shots on the half, three of them shots-on-goal. CSUSB's defense in
Andres Aguirre,
Tony Di Donato,
Juan Larios, and
Neil Gillies kept Cal Poly Pomona to only three shots in the first half. The Broncos scored the first goal of the match in the 6
th minute. Cal Poly Pomona took the lead into halftime, 1-0.
The Yotes were sure to keep the pressure on the Broncos, taking seven shots with four of them shots-on-goal. It was at the 71st minute when
Isaac Balderrama scored a goal off of a free kick. CSUSB's defense continued to work, keeping Cal Poly Pomona scoreless in the second half. The match went into overtime, 1-1.
In the 98
th minute, off of a corner kick the Broncos scored to take the win, 2-1.
