Box Score LOS ANGELES – In what would be the longest CCAA match for the Yotes this season, Cal State LA won first set before the Yotes took over the match, winning the next three sets.
In the first set of the match, the Eagles would outdo the Yotes in almost every statistical category. Cal State LA collected 17 kills against CSUSB's 13 kills. The Eagles hit at a .353 compared to the Yotes .216. Blocks would also be dominated by Cal State LA as they collected three blocks to CSUSB's one block. Even with
Alexis Cardoza's impressive six kill set, the Eagles won the first set, 25-23.
It was the Yotes depth that would be unstoppable and would lead to their unpredictability on the offensive side. In the second set CSUSB hit at a vastly improved .395 percentage. They also hit three services aces and had three blocks. It was
Jalyn Hayes momentum that would push the Yotes to a three-set streak. As the Eagles defense would focus on
Alexis Cardoza, Hayes would hit five kills in the second set. Yotes would take the set, 27-25.
Cardoza would finish the match with 14 kills and 10 digs. Hayes would also finish the match with 14 kills and added three blocks. The depth of the Yotes along with their key players sealed the win for CSUSB.
Jenna Patton finished the match with 12 kills and three block assists.
Marlee Nunley finished the match with four kills, five service aces, 53 assists, and six digs.
Asia Clarke collected nine kills and fifteen digs.
Melissa Garciglia added eight kills on the match. The collective effort by the Yotes lead to their victory over Cal State LA, 3-1.
