POMONA – The CSUSB Coyotes dropped a pair of tight games in the series concluding doubleheader at Cal Poly Pomona on Sunday, 1-3 and 0-2.
In game one, the Yotes led 1-0 into the sixth but could not answer the three finishing Bronco runs in the sixth and eighth.
Giovanni Del Negro doubled and
Andrew Talkington had two hits.
Tyler Williams was effective, going seven and two-thirds, giving up 10 hits but just the three runs with four K's.
In game two, the Broncos (11-6, 9-3 CCAA) scored two in the first and that was it in the seven-inning game.
Deshawn Johnson doubled and Del Negro had the other hit.
Tanner Knapp allowed just four hits and one earned run.
Leighton Helleberg and
Jackson Gilmore both pitched hitless innings.
The Yotes (6-12, 3-9 CCAA) are headed to Chico State next weekend, beginning with a Friday night game at 6 pm. Live links are on CSUSBathletics.com.
