SAN BERNARDINO – The CSUSB Coyotes split the day and the series with Stanislaus State on Saturday afternoon at home, 3-2 and 6-9.
The Yotes won game one in walkoff fashion.
Samantha Vacko doubled in the bottom of the seventh, took third on a passed ball, and scored on
Jamiana Gateb's walkoff single. Gateb finished with two hits.
Madison Veldman doubled in the third to score one as the Yotes tied the game at two in the inning.
Kendra O'Cull was excellent for the Yotes, going the distance allowing two runs on five hits with five K's in the circle with no errors behind her.
In game two, the Yotes (11-10, 9-7 CCAA) had fought back to tie the game in the third at four on a home run from
Madison Veldman. The Warriors (8-13, 7-9 CCAA) scored five runs in the next two innings to regain control. Veldman had hit another homer, a two-run shot in the first.
Alyssa Beck singled one home in the second. Gateb singled another home in the sixth.
Vacko, Gateb, and
Diana Gomez all doubled. Vacko, Gateb, Beck, and Veldman had two hits and Gomez had three. The Yotes will host UC San Diego on Tuesday March 10 at 1 pm for a doubleheader. Live links are on CSUSBathletics.com.
