SAN BERNARDINO – The CSUSB Coyotes rallied in the ninth inning to defeat Cal Poly Pomona on Saturday afternoon, 8-7.
The Yotes entered the ninth down 7-5, but two singles and two hit batters got it going. The Yotes tied the game on a double-play ball and then
Deshawn Johnson put the game-winner in play. The Yotes had led 5-3 in the fifth after a three-run homer from
GJ Hurst.
Johnson had doubled in the fourth and the Yotes scored two on a single from
Andrew Talkington. Hurst and Johnson both had two hits, and
Sergio Rey had three including a double.
Daryl Ruiz also doubled.
Ryan Kurtz and
Austyn Coleman combined for the Yotes to allow just one Bronco run over the final four innings.
