SAN BERNARDINO – The CSUSB Coyotes split with CSU Dominguez Hills on Sunday at Fiscalini Field, 1-0 in 11 innings and 6-9 in seven.
Game one was a pitcher's duel into the 11
th inning.
Carter Kimberly walked in that inning and moved to second on a groundout then scoring on
Deshawn Johnson's walkoff single to right center. Darly Ruiz led the Yotes with two hits in the game. The star of the game though was
Tyler Penix, who started and scattered seven hits over 10 innings with 10 K's and just one walk.
Jackson Gilmore pitched a perfect 11
th and earned the win.
Game two saw the Yotes trail 6-1 after four innings. CSUSB (4-9, 1-6 CCAA) came storming back in the fourth though with five runs.
Marty Dosen and
Carter Kimberly doubled to score runs and
Xavier Ulrich singled as the Yotes tied the game. The Toros (5-8, 4-3 CCAA) tacked on three more before the end to win though. Kimberly had three hits and Ulrich added two.
