CARSON – The CSUSB Coyotes claimed their 20
th win of the season on Saturday night, 64-58 over CSU Dominguez Hills.
The Yotes used a dominant first half where they led 32-19 to gain enough room to hold on in the second half.
Daytone Jennings posted a double-double with 17 points and 11 rebounds, as did
Jeremy Smith with 11 points and 10 rebounds.
Tyrell Henderson joined them in double figures with 11 and seven boards.
The Yotes (20-6, 15-5 CCAA) used a strong finish to the first half to end the period with their largest lead to that point. The Toros (12-14, 8-12 CCAA) got within four with nine minutes left in the game, but the Yotes still took a double-digit advantage into the final minute of play.
The Yotes overcame 12 made threes from CSUDH by making 21 of their 27 foul shots and scoring 36 points in the paint with a +10 advantage on the glass. CSUSB was efficient shooting 40.4 percent from the field.
With the win the Yotes won 20 games for the first time since 2014 and remain in second place in the CCAA. The final week of the regular season is next week at home, with CSUSB hosting CSU Monterey Bay on Thursday at 7:30 pm. Live links are on CSUSBathletics.com.
