SAN BERNARDINO – The Yotes could not quite hold on in the finish and fell to Chico State 88-92 on Saturday night at home.
The Yotes (19-5, 14-4 CCAA) battled the entire second half and seized the lead 69-68 with 7:54 left on a three-point play from
Andres Villa. Chico St. (18-6, 13-5 CCAA) responded with a 6-0 run and the Yotes never got even again.
Jordan Mitchell led CSUSB with 20 points and he added seven rebounds.
Jeremy Smith and
Daytone Jennings both scored 17, with Jennings grabbing eight boards and Smith having eight assists.
Tyrell Henderson and Villa each had 13 with Villa grabbing eight boards.
The Wildcats made 10 threes, but CSUSB led in the paint 52-28, and only turned the ball over twice in a game where both teams scored it well.
