SAN BERNARDINO –
Jeremy Smith nailed a game-winning three-pointer in the last 30 seconds and the Yotes claimed a 65-63 win over CSU Dominguez Hills on Thursday night.
The Yotes, who had to make up for 14 threes from CSUDH, never fell off and were primed to win the game late.
Andres Villa and
Daytone Jennings scored 14 each.
Jordan Mitchell added 11 and Smith scored 10. Villa had an impressive 15 boards, a category CSUSB led 44-35.
"This was a great team effort, especially down the stretch," head coach
Andy Newman said. "Credit to our guys they grind it out and find a way to win."
The Yotes made up for the threes by outscoring CSUDH in the paint, 42-8, and 16-second chance points off 14 offensive rebounds. The Coyotes hung around all game and never let the CSUDH edge get too big. They finished the game on a 7-0 run over the final two minutes.
