ROHNERT PARK, Calif. – The CSUSB Coyotes fell to Sonoma State on the road on Saturday afternoon, 47-65.
The Yotes (1-10, 1-7 CCAA) fell behind by nine after the first quarter and did outscore the Seawolves (9-5, 5-4 CCAA) in the second but fell behind the pace in the second half.
Kayla Bibb led with 14 points as she added five rebounds and three assists.
Tehya Burroughs scored nine and
Tatianna Russell had seven and led the team with seven rebounds.
The Yotes shot 40 percent from the field, but could not slow down Sonoma State who shot 43 percent. Sonoma State hit seven threes compared to just two for CSUSB.
The Coyotes did take good care of the ball, giving away just eight turnovers and scored 13 points off 13 SSU turnovers. The Coyotes got within two in the second quarter and trailed by six at half, but it got away in the third quarter.
"We played hard and competed," head coach
Casandra Renno said. "The score didn't reflect it but little victories is what we will continue to build on and work towards."
