SAN BERNARDINO – The CSUSB Coyotes grinded out a 68-54 win over Sonoma State at home on Thursday night.
Four Yotes scored in double figures in a balanced affair, as
Jordan Mitchell and
Daytone Jennings scored 16,
Jeremy Smith had 15, and
Tyrell Henderson had 10.
Andres Villa grabbed 14 rebounds and
Richard Laku snagged 13.
The Yotes trailed early in the first half, but led by as much as 11 in that period. The advantage ballooned to 14 in the second half, but Sonoma State pulled within one midway through the half. CSUSB responded on a 20-7 run to finish the game and secure the win.
"We have been getting better and better every game at getting through adversity," Mitchell said. "We get through the ups and downs together."
The Coyotes dominated the glass, 49-29, and shot 44 percent from the field, making 15-of-19 foul shots. They controlled points in the paint, 38-16, and 22 points in transition.
