SAN BERNARDINO, Calif. – The CSUSB Coyotes celebrated seniors Sydney Kreimann, Bailey Powell, Morgan Ratliff, Dominique Walker, and Amanda Ramirez on Sunday and split with CSUDH, 2-9 and 6-5.
In game one, the Yotes fell behind early and could not mount a challenge. They had six hits as a team and Ratliff, Kreimann, and Samantha Vacko all stole bases. Anissa Padilla went five innings without allowing a run in the circle.
Game two was a different story as the Yotes fell down 0-4 early but never stopped fighting. Down 1-4 after a Jamiana Gateb homer, she hit a two-run shot in the third. Kreimann then tripled, Dominique Walker doubled, and Kianna Abellera singled to make it 5-4. Kreimann singled an inning later to add a run and CSUDH got one back.
Kendra O'Cull held the Toros to one run and got out of a jam in the seventh. Gateb had three hits and Kreimann had two.
The Coyotes (24-16, 18-14 CCAA) will need a strong finish to secure a spot in the CCAA Championship and will look to do that at UCSD next weekend. The series starts on Thursday at 3 pm. Live links will be on CSUSBathletics.com.
