SAN MARCOS, Calif. – The CSUSB Coyotes split at CSU San Marcos on Saturday, 9-7 and 2-6.
In game one, the Yotes led 6-2 after two innings as David Osuna and Tyrus Lineberger doubled to score two, Alec Ceniceros singled to plate one and AJ Barraza hit a sac fly. Richard Castro capped the scoring with a two-RBI double to left center. After the Cougars made 6-3, Castro laced a single down the left field line for the 8-3 edge. Castro then homered in the ninth to get three-fourths of the cycle. Castro had four hits on the day, Ceniceros had two, and Gabe Chavez and Sergio Rey doubled as the Yotes had 13 hits.
The Yotes scored the first run on a groundout in the second in game two, but the Cougars answered with three in the bottom half. Castro homered again in the fourth to cut it to one, but CSUSM pulled away in the sixth. Castro had two hits for CSUSB.
The Coyotes (14-30, 11-28 CCAA) will wrap the season at home next weekend with CSU Monterey Bay, starting at 6 pm on Friday. Live stats are on CSUSBathletics.com.
