SAN BERNARDINO, Calif. – In a day filled with offense, CSUSB fell in a doubleheader to Sonoma State, 7-17 and 7-11.
In game one, the Yotes fell down in an early hole, but never stopped fighting offensively, getting 12 hits with Hunter Antillon, Tyrus Lineberger, and Jacob Allen all going deep, with Allen also doubling and singling. AJ Barraza and Garrett Ouellette each had two hits. The Yotes left nine men on base.
In game two, the Yotes were trailing 4-2, but Richard Castro launched a grand slam in the third for a 6-4 lead. The Seawolves were able to overtake the lead in the fourth however. CSUSB got one back in the fourth, but SSU scored three more before the end.
CSUSB outhit the Seawolves, 9-8, with Barrazza, Chavez, David Osuna, and Sergio Rey all doubling, with Shawn Porthan joining Castro with a long ball.
The Coyotes (9-22, 6-20 CCAA) will look to take the series finale tomorrow at 11 am at Fiscalini Field. Live stats are on CSUSBathletics.com.
